1. Trump (n) a card that belongs to the group of cards that has been chosen to have the highest value in a particular game
2. Diminish (v) to reduce or be reduced in size or importance
3. Roll off: describes a ship built so that vehicles can drive on at one end and off at the other ((但原文指的意思是"印出"= print)
4. Fare (n) the money that you pay for a journey on a vehicle such as a bus or train
5. Gratuity (n) a sum of money given as a reward for a service
6. Pervasive (adj) present or noticeable in every part of a thing or place
7. Downward (adj) moving towards a lower position ((比較常用來指經濟局勢))
ex: The country's economy is on a downward spiral.
8. Hoard (v) to collect large amounts of something and keep it in a safe, often secret, place
9. Security (n) property or goods that you promise to give to someone if you cannot pay them what you owe them
※securities specialized
investment in a company or in government debt which can be traded on the financial markets and which produces an income for the investor (= someone giving money hoping to get more back)
10. Windfall (n) an amount of money that you win or receive from someone unexpectedly
11. Crease (n) a line on cloth or paper where it has been folded or crushed
12. Toll (n) a small amount of money that you have to pay to use a road, cross a bridge, etc
13. Plaza (n) 1. an open area or square in a town, especially in Spanish-speaking countries 2. a group of buildings including shops designed as a single development within a town
14. Turnstile(n) a device which controls the way into or out of a building, room or area of land, especially one which you have to pay to enter. It is a post with a number of short poles sticking out from it which have to be pushed round as each person walks through the entrance
http://www.kayarkapi.com/FileUpload/ks54056/File/rtd-15big.jpg )
15. Restaurateur /ˌres.tər.əˈtɜːr/ (很難發出正確音的一個字,舌頭打結了....)
16. Nefarious (adj) (especially of activities) evil or immoral
17. Blew sb out: to disappoint someone by not meeting them or not doing something that you had arranged to do with them
1 dollar.
另外,用信用卡付是→ pay with plastic (credit card);用現金付則是→pay in cash.
